Another common remark touches on the limited available parking space. Although paid street parking is provided, it can be tricky finding a spot during lunch hours as the area welcomes many visitors. Some customers also wish for more variety on the menu, hoping for seasonal offerings that might enhance their dining experience.
Have dined here at least once a year when we visit IoW for the last 30 years. Always have good food at reasonable prices, and staff are always friendly and good with children. When in Ryde I would recommend if you are looking for somewhere to eat.
The food in this place is really good. Portion size was excellent and really good value for money. Me and my friend both had fish and chips. I'm gluten-free and dairy free, and mine was so good. Normally, gluten-free batter is not great, but this was so good I ate the lot. The restaurant got quite busy after a while with all age ages. Our waiter was really helpful when it came to my allergies and was able to help provide us with some information on what was about locally, as it was my first time on the island.
What can I say but WOW. This restaurant has a lot of variety and the price is very good. Went there twice in one day. The waiter was extremely helpful. Would highly recommend
A classic English meal and great value considering the cost if living crisis. I had cod and my wife haddock. Both nice and fresh and I finished off with apple pie and custard. Mark was also lovely as the waiter. Highly recommended.
Pleasant attentive staff, even though busy. Food tasty. Bread rolls warm! Water served with ice + lemon. Good cup of tea with plenty of milk and extra water. Very enjoyable. Thank you.
We both ordered Cod & Chips. It was one of the best fish and chips I've eaten for a long time. Proper homemade chips too. Great Value too! Our bill was £23 for 2x Cod and Chips, 1x Large Fanta and 1x Large Coke. We will definitely eat here again when we're in the area.
First visit here and like my previous reviews first impressions count. Four tired hungry people looking for a meal on Ryde Esplanade found Long John. Attracted first by the name, then the menu cover, the meal choices and spaces available we were quickly seated ready to begin our deliberations of what to eat. The menu has a very good range of meals to choose from, including fish choices, roasts, burgers and much more. Once ordered the meals arrived very quickly and we had excellent customer service. From research it seems Long John is a popular place with locals and tourists. The good was in very good portions, well cooked and very delicious. Thank you Long John for feeding the family so well.
Don't miss the Freshly Battered Cod and the Breaded Plaice—classic fish and chips done right. For dessert, the Chocolate Fudge Cake is a crowd favorite.
